The Downside of Love by Meghan Quinn _ Book Review

This isn’t a story about a love triangle. There is no triangle involved.
This isn’t a story about an accidental pregnancy. Although having a baby with her . . . I would.
This isn’t a story about lies and deception, even though at times I’ve lied to myself.

No, this is my story.

A story about sacrifice.
A story about a man who fell in love with the wrong girl.
A story I wish I never had to tell.

This is a story about the true meaning of the downside of love.

You’re probably thinking Wow that went down hill fast! How do you go from a 5 star start to a 2 star finish.

First, when I think of a duet I think of a great romance that has some ups and downs and a cliffhanger that leaves you thinking I hope everything is alright or I hope they can get through this. You care about the characters and want them to have a HEA. OK when the first book ended I was left thinking WTF, how are we going to explain away this ‘hiccup’ so my precious Colby get his happy. Instead of doing that, The Downfall to Love, completely tried to make that hiccup an alright thing and tries to make it into something beautiful. In my opinion it failed and I can’t believe it had the nerve to even try in the first place. Please don’t try to convince me otherwise beucas3 if this all of a sudden becomes an acceptable then I might take a break from reading romance for a while.

Next, we get to create a bond with the characters in a duet and it usually grows between the books. All the characters in The Downfall to Love completely disappointed me. From Rory’s family and her friend Ryan, they seemed to coddle Ryan and make excuses for her behavior. Even to Colby’s acceptance to the matter, it all seemed ridiculous. Rory became a complete bitch! She was comes off as selfless and her love and responsibility for her brother didn’t change but when it came to her relationship she was completely selfish and indifferent. I absolutely loathed her by the end of the book.

I seem to be in the minority with my opinions but thats what a review is right? An opinion and thats mine.
