A third of the human population has been lost.
The wars came, and they created a monster. The Pale, a subhuman, vampire-like drone. Then they lost control.
In the thirty years that followed, humankind sought to rebuild itself within the walls of New Oxford.
But society had become fractured – humans now lived incongruously among Genetic Others, themselves a group of many subspecies.
The most dangerous of them all: the vampires.
Somehow, these groups have managed a peaceful co-existence under the controlling government influence of the Cabal. But that is all about to change…
When Phoebe Harkness receives a phone call in the middle of the night, things take a turn to the horrifying. Her supervisor at Blue Lab One, a high-security research facility, has gone missing.
And all that is left behind: her teeth.
Dr Harkness now finds herself in a race against time to stop further bloodshed and uncover the mystery behind the victims of this horrific crime. She must navigate the dark underworld of the vampire community, without becoming someone’s prey herself…
But she is not alone – on her side, against all odds, is another vampire. Together they must fight for answers before it’s too late…
Hell’s Teeth is the gripping first instalment of the urban gothic Phoebe Harkness series. It follows the young doctor as she stalks through the corrupt dystopia of New Oxford.
” When precisely it became part of my job description to deal with death by spontaneous explosion, I don’t recall.”
Post apocalyptic ✔ paranormal ✔ vampires✔ ghouls✔ science gone wrong✔
In this post apocalyptic world, humans have messed with evolution and created a species from human and vampire DNA. I mean what could go wrong right 😂 these hybrids named ‘the Pale’ are uncontrollably violent and their bite will turn you into one of them. When crap hits the fan other paranormal creatures, including the vampires, come out of the wood work to help humanity with their problem.
Dr. Pheobe Harkness is a lab tech trying to find a way to curb the violent urges of the Pale. She lives a rather solitary life until her boss turns up missing, and she finds herself selected to find out what happened to her. Lives are at risk, including her own, and she has to uncover secrets that vampires want and her company is trying to hide.
James Fahy sucked me into the world of New Oxford with his fantastic world building and fabulous characters. The setting was eerie and the Pales made my skin crawl. I absolutely love Pheobe’s character! She was spunky and sarcastic and when sh*t goes wrong she doesn’t tuck tail and run. The hopeless romantic in me obviously enjoyed Allesandro and I can’t wait to see his character again. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series soon!!
” My point is that we never really know, no matter how sure we are of ourselves and our place in the world when we set out, exactly where it is we are going to end up. “
