Embry Ford was a quiet, ordinary guy—until tragedy ripped his life apart. Now he’s living under the radar, desperate to hide his identity and determined to learn the truth behind what happened. Even if that means working for—and bedding—a man he loathes.

As a bodyguard to a shadowy arms dealer, Brogan Smith knows distractions can kill as easily as a bullet. But when he sets his eyes on his client’s sexy assistant, he can’t get him out of his mind. Even more unnerving: the closer he gets to Embry, the more Brogan starts to suspect he might be protecting the wrong man.

Embry was sure nothing but vengeance would satisfy him—until Brogan offers him something far more tempting. Now Embry must choose: punish the people who nearly destroyed him or fight for a future with the man who has become his entire world.

I am so thankful to my book friend Hollis { @bookhaul } for gifting me a copy of this amazing book!

Sidney Bell has written a beautiful story that is filled with emotion and suspense. I cried at least three times and there were so many memorable moving scenes that I ended up highlighting 75 percent of the e-book.

“Brogan was torn between wanting to throttle him and kiss him stupid.”

The characters are strong and complex. Bodyguard Brogan is tough on the outside but soft and caring on the inside. He is fiercely loyal and protective of those he cares about and loves. Even though Embry isn’t available (physically or emotional) he can’t stay away and would rather have whatever he can get than not have Embry in his life at all. His desire to be needed, wanted and loved by Embry is tragic. Embry is a man who has shut off his emotions and has sacrificed his happiness to get retribution against those who have wronged him. Brogan makes him second guess himself and when he starts feeling again its heart breaking. The sections of the novel in Emory’s POV were devastating.

“Being nice is a good thing.
It makes people think well of you.”
“You’re like a fucking Care Bear,”
Ford said, rolling his eyes.
Brogan couldn’t help laughing, and now he had a problem, because in addition to finding Ford beautiful, it turned out that he liked this cranky little shit so far.”

Bad Judgment wasn’t all tears for me though, it had the perfect amount of humor in it. Brogan’s friend Mario was a good comic relief and the banter between Brogan and Embry was adorable and made me chuckle. The sexual tension was hot and the passion between them when they come together is off the charts! Also, the suspense of the novel kept me anxious and on the edge of my seat waiting for everything to go wrong.

Sidney Bell is a brilliant writer and I can’t wait for her future releases

Brogan watched him like he was something erotic and precious at once, like Embry was the only thing in the world.”

“The kiss became hot and wet and full of teeth, and Embry got a little lost. Okay, a lot lost, because Jesus, Brogan had never kissed him like this before, even that time at his apartment, like Embry was air and life and survival, like Embry was his, like it was all he could do to keep himself from devouring.”

five-star
