Synopsis:
A game of pretend with the highest stakes of all in the latest novel of breathtaking romance from USA Today bestselling author Caitlin Crews
Ty Everett ran off to the rodeo when he turned eighteen and has been riding bulls ever since…until his last fall causes partial amnesia and he must return to Cold River Ranch to figure out what comes next. But how can he pick his next move when he can’t remember how he got here in the first place—much less the beautiful woman who appears at the ranch, claims she knows him, and warms his cold heart for the first time since he woke up in the hospital?
Rodeo Queen Hannah Monroe gave up her crown for Ty Everett, and her innocence. What she wants from Ty now is a divorce. But Ty can’t remember her—or their secret wedding, or even the son she never meant to hide from him—and Hannah is torn. How can she leave the man she can’t forget and still loves despite herself? And even if she’s willing to start over, what will happen when the truth comes out?
“Caitlin Crews writes cowboys you’ll swoon over…and will grip your heart.”—Nicole Helm, author of Cowboy SEAL Redemption
[I received a digital arc from Netgalley for an honest review]
Cold Heart, Warm Cowboy is the second stand alone in the Cold River Ranch series by Cailtin Crews. I was really excited for bull rider Ty Everett’s story and didn’t disappoint.
“Everything that’s worth anything in this life is risk. If it doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t matter. If it doesn’t make you feel something, why would you bother doing it in the first place?“
A bad bull riding fall left Ty Everett missing a good two years of his life thanks to amnesia, so he is completely in the dark when Hannah Monroe shows up on his farm looking for him. He feels an instant connection with her and wants her to fill in the blanks his memory is missing. Hannah drops the bomb that she’s his wife but leaves out the fact they he has a son. Now the have a second chance but when all secrets are out in the open, Ty’s fear of being no good like his own father will over shadow everything.
“He wanted her and that was like a revolution inside him. Because the only things he could remember wanting until now were revenge, redemption, or oblivion.“
Ty and Hannah are both great characters but I felt like she out shined him in the story. She was strong, sassy and kindhearted. She held on to hope when all hope seemed to be lost. She felt like she had given up on Ty too easily but I didn’t see it that way. Ty was so darn stubborn and adamant that he was just as bad as his rotten father and no one could get it into his thick skull that we choose who we are with every decision we make. Together, their interactions were sweet, and for the most part they were honest with each other. Hannah had every right to keep their son a secret until she knew she could trust him.
“She poured it all into each and every kiss. Longing, regret. Loss. Love.“
Cold Heart, Warm Cowboy, Hannah and Ty’s love story, left me with a big smile on my face. It was a pleasant second chance cowboy romance that left me eager for the next brother’s book.
