We found a table at a nice little steakhouse and Bowen ordered half the menu. I ordered fish and salad and Bowen gave me a confused look. “We’re at a steakhouse and you order fish? What kind of country girl are you?”
“The kind that doesn’t particularly love red meat?”
Bowen sat back in seat, clutching his heart. “Blasphemy.”
I laughed. “I’m surprised you do. How are you sure you’re not eating one of those bulls you ride?”
“I’ve been bucked off a few that I wouldn’t have minded serving up on a plate instead. Mean assholes some of them.”
“You’d probably be mean too if I tried to ride you…”
I closed my eyes as the words fell out my lips. When I opened them, Bowen was laughing.
“Please stop. That did not come out the way I intended it to.”
He winked at me, nodding in an exaggerated fashion. “Sure sure. But for the record, Paisley. You can ride me anytime you want.”
My face flushed hot and I dropped my gaze to my plate. I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to leap across the table and straddle him, right then and there, or die of embarrassment. Both seemed viable options.

I have been reviewing for Elle Thorpe since her debut novel, Only the Positive, and I am always satisfied with the stories she creates. When I saw she was starting a brand-new series I knew I needed it immediately. Talk Dirty, Cowboy is the start of a new series with bull riding cowboys and sizzling chemistry.
When widower Bowen Barclay is riding bulls and breaking records, he is raising his young son. He doesn’t have time for dating and isn’t much interested in it anyways. Divorced, mother of two, Paisley is trying to keep her head above water . Working minimum wage jobs, studying for her degree, raising two kids and very little help from her ex leaves her with no time to even think of dating. The link between the two is their sons’ love of video gaming and one night when the systems are left on, the two parents meet and strike up an online friendship of their own. Quickly online friendship turns into real life friendship and the sexual chemistry between them is undeniable. But they both have to let go of the ghosts of their past relationships in order to embrace a future together.
There were two things I learned that night. Bowen Barclay could ride a bull with the best of them. And his kiss alone had the potential to make me fall in love with him.
This was a really great romance story. What’s not to love about a sexy cowboy with a dirty mouth that will get you hot and bothered, who also happens to be a gentleman and great with kids. Paisley’s character was really sweet, likable and relatable, her character and struggles were real. The chemistry between them was fan your self hot. You won’t find average or mundane sex scenes between these two. Seriously there are more than one scene that is hot as sin 🔥
“I really fucking love your mouth when you talk like that.”
she tipped her face up to mine. “Then take me home and talk dirty, cowboy.”
I appreciated that the storyline wasn’t super angsty, both characters had their insecurities, but they didn’t blow things out of proportion or create unnecessary drama. I felt the kids were incorporated well within the story, they didn’t take it over but weren’t left behind unacknowledged. The family moments they had together were really sweet and I looked forward to them. Also, I may have totally geeked out a bit over a cameo from my favorite couple from the Only You series 😍
“I don’t know. I get to spend the entire weeekend with you. I think perhaps I’m the luckiest guy on earth.”
Talk Dirty, Cowboy was a great cowboy romance and I’m extremely excited for the books to come in the series. I was excited for the story of what’s going on between Paisley’s best friend and Bowen’s friend, but after that epilogue- HOLY COW! Way to leave us hanging Thorpe !! Thankfully we don’t have to wait long for the next book.
