review

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

The Trouble with Wanting the start of anew series by Jillian Liota. A new small town series that any romance lover will enjoy. This is the love story of Ruby and Boyd. Who start as strangers sitting next to each other on an airplane and end up friending friendship between them and so much more.

“I wasn’t expecting you,” he whispers. I nuzzle my face into that strong hand, knowing exactly what he means. I wasn’t expecting him either.

Can I be adopted into the Mitchell family please ? Because even though they aren’t perfect, and they fight and argue they are so real and you never doubt how much they all love each other. Growing up in such a big in your face family, Boyd is a reserved/closed off person and Ruby completely rips him out of his comfort zone. With her he is an absolute sweetheart, charming and just completely swoon worthy. Top book boyfriend material ! Ruby is a whole lot of energy and positivity packed in one person, Boyd never stood a chance lol She rambles, she’s positive, kind-hearted, honest and doesn’t have much of a filter. Boyd not only helps her face the less than positive drama going on in her life but shows her that she’s worth loving and in returns she softens up his hard edges.

When it comes to you, Ruby Rae Roberts, the last thing I want to do is play fair?
“And why is that?” […]
“Because I’d rather play dirty.”

The Trouble with Wanting is a fast paced romance. It’s insta lovey in the way that once you found your soul mate you just know. They each know only after a day or two that they have found their person. But realistic the characters don’t try to rush what they have found, and they build a relationship where they openly talk to each other, are playful, flirty and have fun. In the end, for the reader, it felt like they had known each other for so much longer than they had.

“Boyd is very quickly becoming my safe space, a point of refuge in the storm of life.”

Overall, The Trouble with Wanting by Jillian is a heart-warming small town romance that introduces you to a literary family you’ll fall in love with. I am already looking forward to the next book
