Buck You! by Elle Thorpe _ Book Review

Summer Hunt was destined to be the first woman on the pro bull riding tour, until a devastating accident shattered her dreams. With the injury not healing, and her fiancé pushing to move to the city, there’s nothing left for her at the small-town bull riding school she runs with her father.

Dominic West has always secretly longed to know his biological parents. But when an attempt to meet his birth mother goes horribly wrong, getting the hell out of town is all that’s on his mind. With a job available at Hunts’ Bull Riding School, hiding out in the place he knows from his childhood is the perfect escape.

Until he comes face to face with the one person who has always owned his heart. The girl he grew up with, riding bulls in the dirt, is now a beautiful but broken shell of the woman he remembers. And she’s not happy to see him.

She’s planning to leave in just a few weeks, set to marry some jackass who doesn’t know one end of a bull from the other, unless Dom can prove her dreams are still in reach. And convince her to stay. For her career. For him.

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

Buck You !
is the second book in Elle Thorpe’s Buck Cowboys series. This cowboy romance can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone and if you enjoy it you’ll love all her other cowboy releases.

I’ve tried to write up a synopsis of the book a few times and ended up deleted what I wrote because it was just rephrasing the synopsis so scroll on up to read the details of Buck You! and then scroll on back down read my reactions lol

“There’s no rush when it come to you and me. I’m not going anywhere. You hear that?”

Elle Thorpe always conjures up such wonderful characters. Dom is an absolute sweetheart, vulnerable, caring and wonderfully dirty mouthed in the bedroom. He’s going through some heartbreaking problems in this story that aren’t related to his unrequited love for Summer. I struggled a little bit with Summer’s character. I found it unbelievably frustrating that she was sacrificing her happiness for her jerk off high school boyfriend because she felt she OWED him. Ugh it just boggled my mind.

I found the beginning of the book a bit slow but that was just because I couldn’t stand Summer and her high school boyfriends relationship. I loved every moment Dom and Summer interacted, or they interacted with their families. Once Summer saw what had been in front of her the whole time Dom pulls out more than one swoon worthy moment to prove how special he thinks he is.

Buck You !
is a friend to lovers romance with plenty of angst and steam. A romance that has a conclusion that was simply perfection for the characters both as a couple and as individuals. I just really love Elle Thorpe’s writing. The sense of family, loyalty, honor and respect that her southern leads have for the woman love and the passion they bring in the bedroom.
