I snuggled closer to the source, enjoying the strong, solid warmth beneath my cheek. I didn’t want to wake up, but I’d promised Bridget I would volunteer at a local pet shelter with her this morning, before my afternoon shift at the gallery.

It’s been a while since I read a New Adult romance, so I was a bit nervous going in but Twisted Love by Ana Huang went beyond my expectations. I devoured it in one sitting because I couldn’t get enough of the male lead 💥 ” Alex Volkov was a force of nature unto himself, and I imagined even the weather bowed down to him.”
This is an enemy to lovers / brother best friend romance between sweet optimistic Ava Chen and cold-hearted genius Alex Volkov. They are two characters haunted by their pasts but choose to be driven by them in opposite ways. Ava sees herself as a survivor and embraces the positive in situations even if at times her fears cripple her. Alex channels his in to his thirst for revenge. They are the classic both broken characters who fit together whole situation, and I was here for it. “You are the light to my dark, Sunshine,” he said in a raw thick voice. His lips brushed against mine as he spoke. “Without you, I’m lost.”
Twisted Love was highly addicting and I couldn’t stop reading once I started. Towards the end there’s a major plot twist and I appreciated that it wasn’t followed up by immediate forgiveness in a nice little bow. The character at fault really has to grovel and prove their feelings, and they do just that without losing what makes them who they are. The only thing that really felt New Adult to me abut this book was Ava and her best friends. They tended to behave on the immature scale at times. However, the trauma, pain, violence and sex would fit right into any adult romance novel. Especially Alex Volkos, that man was hot damn and an anti-hero I’ll be remembering. “I lost myself in him. In us. In sweet, filthy, depraved oblivion.”
With her diverse cast, steamy romance and intense plot, Ana Huang has made it to my favorites list and I will be keeping a close eye out for book 2. The next couples book is guaranteed to be a good one!
