The Closer is the latest romantic comedy by author Kristy Marie. A marriage of convenience between a baseball player and a mother to be trying to keep her life together.
“I love you like baseball.”
Baseball player Cooper Lexington needs a caretaker for his Grandfather, who he owes everything to. When he discovers that his Pop’s best friend is a struggling mother to be, he decides she’s the solution. McKinley recently lost her job and so when Cooper offers her his last name so she has health insurance for her pregnancy in exchange for her spending time watching over her best friend, she only hesitates a little. She would do anything for her unborn child, and cares for Cooper’s grandfather as if he was her own. Neither were ready to fall fast for each other, and Mac struggles with feelings of being unworthy of Cooper and all the love and affection he shows them.
“You are the real Mrs. Lexington . In every way that matters.”
Kristy Marie’s romantic comedies always have the greatest characters, and this one is no different. Mac is just the right amount of crazy, and her pregnancy hormones don’t help . She has such a big heart, but she lets herself be weighed down by guilt of her past actions made in a time of emotional distress. Cooper is book boyfriend quality. He bounds with her unborn child and is so loving it will melt your heart. Along with all the sweetness, he has an alpha possessive streak that is hot as hell. He’s just the right amount of alpha in the bedroom, but still remaining sweet and showing her how beautiful she is inside and out. Between their sarcastic banter and their chemistry, they were a highly entertaining couple.

I also loved that while Kristy Marie’s books, outside her commander and brief series, are stand alones they take place in the same universe and there are always friendly faces from other books.
The Closer is another fun rom-com by Kristy Marie. A marriage of convenience filled with found family, napkin promises, a trusty wrench, a feisty grandfather, and a happily ever after.
