Synopsis

EZRA

Partying, dudes, and hockey. What more could a gay NHL player want?

If it weren’t for Anton Hayes, my life would be perfect.

Not that he affects my life in any way. At all. That would imply I care what the winger from Philly thinks of me.

Which I don’t.

Not even a one-night stand with him can thaw his misplaced animosity toward me.

He says I’m the one with the ego, but he can talk. He rivals me for most egotistical puck boy in the league.

I hate him as much as he hates me. Even if I crave a repeat.

ANTON

When it comes to hockey, I’m all about the game.

I’ve worked for years to be one of the best in the league, and l’ve done it without splashing my orientation all over the tabloids.

My hockey image is one I’ve carefully cultivated, and after one night with Ezra Palaszczuk, I risk it all.

He’s cocky, obnoxious, and has an ego bigger than Massachusetts. And okay, maybe he’s the sexiest man I’ve ever known.

We’ll never get along. Not when we sleep together. Not even when my possessive streak awakens.

That doesn’t stop us from falling into bed together over and over again.

About the Author

Eden Finley is an Amazon bestselling author who writes steamy contemporary romances that are full of snark and light-hearted fluff.

She doesn’t take anything too seriously and lives to create an escape from real life for her readers. The ideas always begin with a wackadoodle premise, and she does her best to turn them into romances with heart.

With a short attention span that rivals her son’s, she writes multiple different pairings: MM, MMF, and MF.

She’s also an Australian girl and apologises for her Australianisms that sometimes don’t make sense to anyone else.

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

Egotistical Puckboy
is the first standalone in the Puckboys series by Eden Finley and Saxon James. A hate to love romance between two star hockey players with massive skills and even bigger egos.

Ezra and Anton are rivals on and off the ice. After an alcohol induced one-night stand that never should have happened, they both can’t get each other off their minds. Which would be fine since they aren’t on the same team until Anton gets traded to Boston and know they have to learn to work together on the ice and ignore the sexual tension between them. It obviously can’t be ignored, and they eventually start seeing each other in secret, but it’s just about sex and the superstition that they do better on the ice when they are in bed together. But what happens when they start getting attached and one of them is allergic to relationships and the other doesn’t share.

“People. Relationships. Love.
I don’t want any of it.
Except when he leans over and presses a kiss to the top of my head, I’m starting to suspect that I really, really do.”

This was such a fun hockey romance. Ezra and Anton are both solid characters. They both have big egos when it comes to hockey, but outside that they are much different. Ezra is out, proud and loud to the world. He’s a playboy and doesn’t do relationships or heavy feelings with his sexual partners. Which is definitely a result of his unhealthy parental upbringing. But he is so much more than his promiscuity. He is funny, superstitious, afraid of cats, and a sweetheart with his young queer fans who look up to him. Then we have Anton who is out to his close friends, family, and teammates, but he isn’t ready for the world to know and have his personal life outshine his hockey career. He’s a monogamist, who agrees to the no strings attached arrangement with Ezra but demands they be exclusive. He’s down to earth, career focuses, and a caring soul who donates and volunteers outside of his hockey spotlight. And the way he shut down Ezra’s negative talk about himself made my heart happy.

“Why do you care?”
“Mm, growly Anton really gets me hot.”
He gives me a blank look.
“Frustrates Anton is even hotter.”

Ezra and Anton together are intense. Between the verbal barbs, the sexual tension and the teasing, they were very entertaining to read about. What starts off as some quality hate sex eventually turns into more, and the moment it does is quite emotional, and you can feel the intensity coming off the page. I loved the progression of their relationship and that they both grew as characters as their relationship progressed.

Egotistical Puckboy
by Eden Finley and Saxon James is an enemies to lovers hockey romance filled with hate sex, Karaoke, pranks, banter and stolen glances. I look forward to whoever the next book is about, fingers crossed that it’s Tripp and Dex!

P.S -if you’ve read the authors’ CU Hockey series, get ready for some great cameos from those books which made me smile.
