Synopsis

TRIPP

The worst part of being in love with my straight best friend is the fact he’s too oblivious to see it.
Years of pining have left me exhausted, and I need a break from Dex. I need space to get over my feelings. But when his relationship falls apart and he turns to me for comfort, I cave immediately.
If there’s one thing I hate more than being hurt, it’s seeing Dex struggle. I can’t leave him in a time of need, even if my friends say it’s my biggest downfall.
They say Dexter Mitchale is my weakness, but if that’s true, I don’t want to be strong.

DEX

I’ve always been the dumb one. It’s what I’m known for, and usually I don’t let it get to me.
I have hockey, and I have my best friend, Tripp. What more do I need?
To settle down? No thank you. Marriage? Hard pass.
According to ex-girlfriends, that makes me “irresponsible.”
But the solution I come up with to get over my fear of commitment might be my dumbest idea yet. Not only does it have team management breathing down my neck, but it puts a strain on my friendship with Tripp.
This PR nightmare could lose me the only person I’ve ever loved.
Losing girlfriends is nothing. Losing Tripp? It’s not an option.
I’ll do whatever it takes to keep him.

About the Author

Eden Finley is an Amazon bestselling author who writes steamy contemporary romances that are full of snark and light-hearted fluff.

She doesn’t take anything too seriously and lives to create an escape from real life for her readers. The ideas always begin with a wackadoodle premise, and she does her best to turn them into romances with heart.

With a short attention span that rivals her son’s, she writes multiple different pairings: MM, MMF, and MF.

She’s also an Australian girl and apologises for her Australianisms that sometimes don’t make sense to anyone else.

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

Irresponsible Puckboy by Eden Finley and Saxon James is the second book in the Puckboys series. Tripp Mitchell has a problem, he’s in love with his straight best friend Dexter. Dexter ‘Dex’ Mitchale has a problem, his fear of long term commitment to anyone besides his best friend Tripp has caused yet another relationship to fail. When Dex comes up with a plan to test out his long term commitment abilities he gets Tripp to agree without the two truly realizing the consequences of their actions. With a relationship already so entwined with their careers playing hockey for Las Vegas, Tripp and Dex must figure out where they really stand with each other before someone ends up hurt.

Tripp Mitchell is a sweetheart and anyone who knows him says so. He understands that Dex is his kryptonite and even with his friends trying to help can’t back away from the closeness he relishes with Dex. He knows that the mess they get themselves into is just as much his fault as it is Dex’s because he could have said no but he’s always been a fierce protector of his best friend’s feelings that it wasn’t even an option. He knows he’s bound to be the one hurt but can’t stop himself from trying to protect Dex’s feelings anyways.

I’m his best friend. He’s my heart and soul. And nothing will ever change that.

Dex Mitchale has always been told he’s not the brightest crayon in the box. He knows that although he doesn’t always catch on to everything right away, Tripp will be there to help him through any problem. He blames himself for the mess he’s found him and Tripp in and the guilt weighs heavily and at times impacts their relationship. As Dex works through his own complex feelings about Tripp, he realizes there was always so much more between them than friendship and that realization changes so much for the better.

There’s a connection between us that runs so deep I swear I need it for my survival. It’s always been there, always been intense, but last night that connection finally burst free, and being with Trip wasn’t just right, it was necessary.

Tripp and Dex’s story was filled with humor, sweet moments, heat and low angst/drama. The two men working through their situation was exactly what you’ve come to expect from this author duo. I have kept most of this review vague because as a reader seeing them work through their nonsense was a joy. This best friends to lovers story leaves you with a warm feeling and excited for the next member of the Collective to find his HEA.

4.5 stars for Dex and Tripp’s hasty decision and the best possible results.
