Killer Honeymoon
By Aimee Nicole Walker
Sawyer and Royce: Matrimony and Mayhem, Book 3
Honeymoon, happily ever after, and…homicide?
Newlyweds, Royce Locke and Sawyer Key, embark on a honeymoon road trip where their biggest threat should be dodging drunk tourists on golf carts. But their arrival on South Bass Island lands them in the middle of a contentious battle between lifelong islanders and a property developer who won’t accept no for an answer. Tempers soar as the barometric pressure drops, signaling a dangerous storm brewing on the horizon and across the street. Minding their own business becomes impossible when a homicide wrecks their vacation and puts Royce and Sawyer in the path of a twisted killer.
Will their honeymoon be two tickets to paradise or a one-way trip to the morgue?
Killer Honeymoon is book three in the Matrimony and Mayhem trilogy, the second story arc for Royce Locke and Sawyer Key. ** New readers should start with the Zero Hour trilogy before reading Matrimony and Mayhem. ** Killer Honeymoon is a continuation of Royce and Sawyer’s happily ever after as they move into the next phase of their lives—professionally and personally. Though some storylines span the trilogy, this book does not end in a cliffhanger. Heat, humor, heart, and homicide abound. You have been warned. 18+.

Excerpt From Killer Honeymoon:
“She reached into her purse and pulled out two envelopes. One was addressed to Sawyer and the other to Lucky Bastard. She gripped them tightly in her hands instead of offering them to Sawyer and Royce.
“I’d recognize that handwriting anywhere,” Sawyer said, a gentle smile curving his lips. “When did Vic write these?”
Imelda swallowed hard, and the brimming tears spilled down her cheeks. Royce pulled her in for a tight hug and whispered that she’d done the right thing. Imelda nodded against his chest and allowed Royce to comfort her for a few moments before she eased back.
“Soon after his diagnosis,” she told Sawyer. “Vic accepted his fate much sooner than we did. He’d devoted all his extra energy to ensuring his parents and husband would be okay.”
“Selfless,” Royce said.
Imelda nodded. “Maddeningly so at times.” She took a shaky breath and extended the envelopes to Royce and Sawyer, who accepted them immediately. “Promise kept,” she whispered toward the heavens before meeting their gazes. Imelda’s smile came easier, and her spirit seemed lighter as if an enormous weight had been lifted from her thin shoulders. “There’s no pressure from me to read the letters now or ever, okay?”
Royce and Sawyer nodded.
“I’ll see you both tomorrow.” Imelda kissed both their cheeks before leaving.”
They stared at the letters in their hands for a few moments before locking eyes.
Sawyer swallowed hard and said, “Should we read them now?”
Royce shook his head. “We’ll be late.” He held out his empty hand to Sawyer. “Trust me?”
Sawyer placed his letter on Royce’s open palm. “Always.”
Royce carefully folded the envelopes and put them into his pocket for safekeeping. Then he pressed his lips to Sawyer’s for a brief kiss. “I know the perfect spot and time. We’ll read Vic’s letters together.”
Sawyer smiled. “Like we do everything.”

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]
Killer Honeymoon by Aimee Nicole Walker is the third book in the follow up Sawyer and Royce Matrimony and Mayhem series. Sawyer Key and Royce Locke have been through hell and back to finally reach their wedding day. With their special day behind them, the two look forward to a honeymoon they can remember forever. Life on the island seems idyllic but, murder doesn’t believe in time off and the two find themselves embroiled in a homicide investigation on their little island getaway.
Sawyer and Royce have finally reached the day they’ve been waiting for. They are able to get married with close family and friends there to celebrate with them and the moment is sweet and everything you wanted for these two who have been through so much. With their bright future together on the horizon going on vacation should seem like a piece of cake but nothing is with these two. The two are on the same page as they attempt to assist in the investigation without revealing their profession back home. This of course doesn’t go well but these two troublemakers find a way. I appreciated that this book leaned on the lighter side of emotional turmoil for the MCs as they have been through so much. As usual their intimacy flourishes as they allow their comfort to express itself in the bedroom while still being so very hot.
Damn, those beautiful eyes could communicate so much. Just then, they were saying Royce was Sawyer’s entire universe.
This point in the series has been a long time coming and felt perfect in its simplicity. Royce and Sawyer’s journey here has brought the reader through so many dangerous cases and heart wrenching moments that this book being slightly less action packed and emotional just worked. Although the author indicates that there could be more Sawyer and Royce in the future (sign me up!) I am so looking forward to her upcoming releases in 2022 for Captain Mendoza and Topher.
4 stars for Royce and Sawyer’s honeymoon with a side of homicide.
