Stalked but Not Afraid by Nicole Dykes is the second book in the Spark of Hope series. Brooks has been sent to Kansas City by a friend and fellow influencer to find protection and comfort in Ben Price. What he doesn’t expect is for Ben’s older brother Roman to come in guns blazing to help him solve his stalker issue. Roman Price has been using his badge to protect those who cannot always protect themselves, much like him and his brother growing up. Roman is drawn to Brooks’ snarky attitude and refusal to see himself as a victim. The two get themselves caught in a cat and mouse game with Brooks’ stalker and it draws them even closer. But when the dust settles will either man be left standing with their heart intact.

Roman Price has struggled with the path he and Ben were put on by their parents’ neglect. He has finally found the strength to seek help from a mental health counselor and feels he’s on the right path. Brooks is a shock to Roman’s system since he’s never seen himself settling down but feels the pull towards getting to know Brooks better. Roman is a powerful man who allows Brooks to take control of their interactions in the bedroom and set the pace for their friendship.

Huge. Confident. Beautiful. And dominant. Square jaw and dark, chocolate-brown eyes that sparkle with chaos. An insanely tall, muscular frame that says he definitely uses his brother’s gym and often. It’s just plain not fair because he makes me stupid and that cannot happen.

Brooks has made a life for himself as a fitness and travel influencer turned cam boy. He always has approached sex with a positive attitude and loves it. He hates that the stalker has been able to take it all away from him. He doesn’t trust Roman’s intentions and tries to push him away. Roman doesn’t take the hint and breaks down Brooks walls slowly. The two men find comfort through sex but the real connection comes when they allow each other to see their softer sides.

Brooks is bright, loud, and beautiful. He’s meant to travel and make noise in this world. I can’t be selfish and hold him here, away from the rest of the world.

The Spark of Hope series is a beautiful combination of trauma, self discovery and romance popping up when the characters least expect it. The balance of comfort and heat allows readers to root for the MCs to find themselves and their HEA together. This story takes on the subject of sex positivity with Brooks career as a cam boy and Roman’s unwavering support. Roman and Brooks are helped both with the stalker and seeing where they could end up by the ever growing Spark of Hope found family. I look forward to seeing Andrew get his HEA and to see if there’s a certain cynical attorney in his cards.
