About Abandoned But Not Alone
Felix
I’ve always been a helper. Someone who sees the world in a brighter light than others do. Who tries to show everyone there’s good in this world.
So when I meet Henry, I immediately make it my mission to show him how great the world can be if he’ll only accept a little help.
Easier said than done. But I’ve always liked a challenge.
Henry
I have no idea why this complete stranger wants to help my daughter and me. But I can’t seem to shake him.
Life hasn’t been kind to us, and I clearly don’t see the world the same way he does. I want what’s best for my daughter, though, and if that means accepting help from Felix, then that might be what I have to do.
No matter what my instincts scream at me.
I’ve been abandoned by everyone in my life, and that’s what I expect now.
But Felix seems determined to make sure I know I’m not alone.

[ I received a digital arc for an honest review]
Abandoned But Not Alone by Nicole Dykes is the newest addition to the Spark of Hope series. Felix has always been an optimistic helper in every aspect of his life. When Henry stumbles into the support group clutching a baby, Felix’s need to care for him hits overdrive. Henry is reluctant to accept the help Felix and the guys at the gym/support group want to give because there has to be a catch. He struggles to put these feelings aside but knows he needs to for his daughter. Felix has other plans as he finds the more he learns about Henry and Hazel the more he falls for them both.
Felix is a character who refused to allow negativity to run his life. He wants to help Henry and Hazel after just one interaction, knowing that the man needs help even if he doesn’t want to accept it. Felix struggles with his attraction to Henry because he doesn’t want it to impact Henry’s willingness to accept Felix’s assistance in getting back on his feet. He is adamant that all steps are taken with Henry’s consent and at times insistence.
God, with Felix, everything is so different. I know it’s too soon to do this – to hope for a future.
Henry is a single father with no one to rely on. When he stumbles upon the Spark of Hope crew he never expects to be adopted into their found family. They immediately accept him as one of their own and especially when they see how attached Felix is. But Henry’s past causes him to pause because it all feels too good to be true. He just wants to be there for Hazel in every possible way. When Henry and Felix finally give into their feelings it isn’t just physical intimacy but also emotional support which both need.
I don’t just want his body. I want every part of him. I want to show him in every way that I care. Show him how good it can be when two people are together and really in it.
The Spark of Hope series has followed several different couples who all had their pasts weighing heavily on their futures. This book continues with that theme as Henry’s dark past and even at times dark present day play an important role in the development of the characters as well as the story. I didn’t feel the intense chemistry between these characters that I did in the other books but not every romance is always red hot. I related to this one though as I have a daughter this age and know the difficulties Henry faced just trying to do the right thing. With this series coming to a close I will be glad to see each of these couples have a future with a happily ever after.
3.5 stars for Felix making a family with Henry and Hazel.
